hi all,
i revisited an old bedroom scene to try push the visuals a little further. Let me know what you think.
thanks
The mood and palette are superb, and the splash of yellow accent is classic! Good job!

The lighting is always a key part to get right in an interior scene, this ticks the box. Good work!
thanks for the feedback guys!
Personally, I'd desaturate and brighten the image outside the window to better match how metering works in photography. However, this does look very, very nice.
Agree with Will - would use a backplate that matches better as well. But this is a great looking interior besides!
I really like the mood you captured. well done!
thanks for the feedback everyone. Attached is the render with the backplate slightly desaturated with brightness turned up a little.
close up shot
Looks great!
with the tweaks to the window image it looks great!
Fancy!
thanks. Got another render I've been working on.
simple bathroom scene
That last shot's looking great! Well-done!
+1 on that simple bathroom scene, looks really nice!!
Love these, Usman. Very well done. I want that faucet for my bathroom :)
kitchen scene looks amazing - can you tell me a little about the lighting setup you used? Thanks
Thanks for the feedback. I'm hoping to get the the point of reaching the borderline between real & cgi.

The lighting is just a environment HDRI with the brightest spot coming in through the window and door. i did a little bit of post work in photoshop ( adjusting the curves and colour balance )
another scene set up playing around with different mood lighting.
some more renders along with 2 variations of the kitchen scene.
Oooo. I like the one with the orange wall for sure. Really nice, Usman. The lighting in the chair scene is beautiful.
thanks josh. Another simplistic bathroom scene.
worked a little more on the bathroom. Changed the textures and did a little more in post.
Excellent. The view through the window and steam adds a lot to the scene.
Super cool addition of the steam, water and winter background.
Maybe warm ambient light from behind the tub would help to enhance the feeling of warmth. Just an idea :)
That floor looks great too - and slippery! ;)
Big improvement on that bathroom scene!

My brain went 100% rorschach test on the steam when I saw that. I see a baby dinosaur on the right blowing a smoke ring at the larger alien squatting down trying to feed it.
And if the floor is wet an slippery its because my kid just did a belly flop into it from off camera.

I wish I was lying, but I see it too.

excellent job
Excellent work I'm impressed with your result
I'm learning how to manipulate keyshot now
Could you make available to the scene for study?
Grateful for the attention
another scene quickly modelled up. Looking forward to what keyshot 7 brings! not too happy with the floor's bump. Its either too high at the left side of the scene or ends up looking too flat on the right side.
slight variation on the floor

Love that wood on the island. Well done!
slightly different colour pallet
I like the color choice, but the island and some of your surfaces look so shiny and reflective, it's quite confusing. What material are you using and what is the IoR value set to? Just curious.

I was going for a high gloss finish on the grey cabinets and island ( the roughness is set to 0 and 1.5 for IoR - the material type is a paint material)
the wooden top is an advance material with a roughness of 0.05 and IoR of 1.5
any suggestions as to enhancing them but still retaining the "high gloss" look?
I gotta say I´m really impressed with all your scenes! Could you share your computer specs? or are you using network rendering for them?

thank you! computer specs are as follows:
intel i7 6700k @ 4.00 GHz
32gb RAM
GPU - quadro m4000
I've never used the network rendering feature. I simply set my CPU usage to 75% - 6 cores and let it render using max time ( usually between 1.5-3 hours)

Damn, my 8 gb of RAM are getting so outdated :(, I´ll have to invest in a new computer it seems

FWIW, RAM isn't going to help KS performance, and unless you've had issues loading heavy scenes, the chip (CPU) will make the difference.

Sure! I've attached a few examples. I always reference photos to match materials. Your perfect mirror-like finish is just too perfect IMO. Even if it was the exact material match, if it makes your image distracting or confusing, I'd still change it. See the examples below... you'll notice they all have either a slight noise bump to them or roughness (and in most cases, both). If you're using a paint material, I'd change it to Plastic. Then, you can reduce the specular value a bit. With black or dark diffuse color, a specular value of pure white will be a bit too harsh, I'd make it a light gray, add a roughness of something around .01-.05 and a procedural noise texture bump scaled down a bit with a bump height of something like .01-.05 as well. Try a few combos and see what you get.
I hope that helps.
nice , really like the mood you captured

Well, IMO your renderings look better than the reference images. Not uncommon!
Bill G
think I'm going to put this one to bed & build another scene this weekend.
Nice! I'm digging that close-up and the last overhead image.
thought id have a bit of fun with one of the previous scenes. modelled a droplet and added the "water" material.
Excellent work. Droplet shot is really interesting!
Thanks josh. I've put together a little living room scene with a day and night shot.
Nice mood, do you realise though, that the black vase on the left seems to be sinking into the chest of draws it's sat on. Also the chairs metal bases both need subdividing

thanks, Yes i was hoping nobody would spot that haha I created this scene before the "snap to lower object" tool came out and had to place things by eye. The chair was a downloaded model so i'm planning to replace it.
Tweaked some of the models and textures.
Nice! I like the updates.

Nice! I like the updates.
thanks josh! another 2 stills attached.
Trying to work up some product renders. Quite happy with how these came out.
Nice detail! That middle shot is killer.
Playing around with a downloaded drill. Really wanted to focus on the rubber aspects of this. I'm a little disappointed with the lighting. I played with the a few studio setups then created my own hdri but was still not gettinf the desired results. I settled for a studio setup with a few light planes to add highlights.
Nice comp! Can't help but think a dark red background would look great.
Light setting isn't bad ! The one thing that bugs me is the lack of a ground plane. I know there's a subtle reflection there, but there are no shadows and i'm not a fan of floating products.
thanks for the suggestions. Added a ground plane and changed the background.
Wow! Great implementation!
It's been a while since I've managed to put together some stuff. Been working on an interior bedroom scene.
Hi All,
I've just stumbled upon marvellous designer (I'm surprised i haven't come across it before). I'm really liking the results with these as its another tool towards creating the perfect interior CGI sets. (i used solidworks on a daily basis for most my modelling and it isnt very well equipped for cloth simulation)
What do you think? The cloth isnt the smoothest as i was in a rush to get them into keyshot to see how they look. I can see myself using a lot more of this soon.
Neat! They look pretty nice. The busy triangular pattern on the first one makes it hard to distinguish the wrinkles though. May be worth trying a more subtle pattern. Definitely adding some life to the otherwise rigid items.
Hi all,
Thought id take a stab at an automotive rendering. any help to push these visuals further will be greatly appreciated!
Ive attached a clay render, Raw render and post image.
With the bugatti Chiron model flying around i thought id work up a render. I think the tyres could do with more work as well as creating a motion shot.
another Bugatti Chiron render :) Credits: Model by Rex Fu
Another piece i quickly put together. Old school Snes.
