Title: smoothing
Post by: arail on June 22, 2010, 09:12:14 AM
Maybe someone can help me with smoothing.

If I export a model from modo as an OBJ file I can subdivide the object before exporting or I can freeze the geometry.
Subdividing does nothing to smooth curves once I open the model in Keyshot.
Freezing makes a smoother object but at the expense of a much higher poly count and on curved glass objects the faceting is still clearly visible.

Does KeyShot have a smoothing control similar to the one Thea has?

Thanks in advance for any advice anyone can give.

KeyShot doesn't have any smoothing control. You will need to take care of this in the modeling software. People usually have great success taking their models from Modo into KeyShot.

Thanks for the reply.
I tried another level of subdivision on the OBJ file and that gave me pretty good results.

oh man if Key shot could only subdivide a model...that would be sickness!

That would make KS a modeler or a model editor ... and I think that, appart from the sharp edges radius thingy .. they have no intention for that ...
