Tessellation settings on Import not available

I watched the quick tip Tessellation video....https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cu3RPo7wFtM....


but that option doesn't appear when I am importing. Does it only show up for certain formats....I use obj mostly....attached is a screenshot of my options

The tesselation option is just for importing not tesselated cad files like step, iges or the native formats from SWX, creo, nx, .... Importing already tesselated formats like obj, stl, vrml, ... has no need of a tesselation option.

Thank you for the explanation LayC42....sometimes my geometry comes in faceted so I guess I just have to tesselate it in my 3D software before I import it.
