Hi all,
I find the gold colors quite unrealistic and unappealing.
Does anyone know of tutorials to get nice looking gold colors?
Thanks
Surface imperfections and dirt/grime go a long way to helping make metals look believable, as well as a good environment to reflect. Here's a gold material I whipped up that allows you to blend in a "grime" texture in a sense. It's a modification of one of the "old metal" shaders.
Right side is this shader, left is the default 24K Gold.

Some KLK action :)

You can play with the "Blend with Color" as well as the "Brightness" & "Contrast" in the texture tab to get the color and look you want.
Shader file is attached.

Is your Keyshot 5 up to date? I don't have Keyshot 4 to test it with. Perhaps your download was simply corrupted? Try downloading again and see if it works. Or make sure you're running Keyshot in Administrator mode, you should be for general usage. If not, here it is on pastebin instead, in case it's a file permissions issue.

I've uploaded the material to the Keyshot Cloud as well.
This material crashes my KS4 too, just hangs when I try to import. Can anyone verify compatibility with KS4 or produce a compatible version?
Great Gold effect btw :)
Unfortunately, Keyshot 4 does not have the material I used as a base for this, and I don't think the material system in Keyshot 4 has the capability for it. Might be time to upgrade to 5? ;)
That's a shame, but thanks for looking into it!
I'll just have to wait till I get KS5 :D
