This design is aesthetically more pleasing
In my eyes you have removed the visual hierarchy which makes it harder to differentiate the functions of the buttons, thus creating a less user friendly design 8)
Interesting point. I also see the red and green as needing immediate action, while the others simply show that function is currently activated.
