Title: remain horizontal during a rotation.
Post by: simonviau on June 18, 2013, 11:32:43 AM
Hi everybody !
I have some problem with my drawer...
I would like to do an animation to show how the drawer works ... (you can find an example in attached)
but it's a bit complicate because it's a mix between a translation and a rotation.. It's like a translation along an arc
I have try to fix some axis of rotation on slides (it works for slides) but it does works :( the problem : the drawer rotate around the axis but not remains horizontal during its rotation.

Do you have some solutions ?
thanks in advance / sorry for my english :(

Simon

Hello Simon,

So that the drawer remains horizontal, you need to apply two rotations.  The first rotation goes around the axis of rotation for the left-most slide.  The second is a rotation in the opposite direction (negative with the same magnitude), with "Self" as the helper object.  Find the attached images of a very simple scene.  The cylinder remains horizontal, throughout the entire motion.
