Title: Avoiding 'hairy' look on toon material
Post by: zooropa on September 11, 2017, 03:08:32 AM
Hi. I am trying to get a neat line in my model (using toon material). I have tried to tweak the 'contour angle', but this is just giving me more/less lines. Regardless of the amount of visible lines what I am looking for its to have no grainy, hairy or handsketch look like.
At this moment the Contour quality is set to 15.

Please find attached samples of what I would like to eradicate from my render. I hope this is possible. I checked lot of samples with the toon material and I can see a lot of people manage to have 'clean lines ' for technical drawing outcomes.

Thanks so much!

I am trying importing other models.
In this case I imported a rhino model. It might be the 'interior edge contour'.
The contour quality is set to 5. Still the hairy lines there.

Can you upload or share the model you are working with here?
The "hairiness" is likely caused by the curvature of the model. Sharply edged models will yield cleaner/harder lines.

Yes DriesV. I can. By the way, the model I uploaded is not the one I need to solve (I can not upload that one).

The model attached in this post was made in Rhino with booleans and fillets. I am not sure why the 'hairy' lines are there, since the curvature is clean in Rhino. I just want the curves don't end rough.

Thanks a lot!
