Good day all,
After recently rendering out this aventador and having loads of fun with it. I've decided to share my .ksp file with anyone interested. I would like to have a fun competition with this model to see what others can come up with. We can have a poll or votes if anyone is interested.
I'm was thinking we could do: Best shot straight out of keyshot, Best shot with post processing work.
.ksp can be found here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0BwQPiS7ny-FGcjUza2RDZUFGZzA/edit?usp=sharing
BIG THANKS TO FATEH MERRAD FOR HIS MODEL ON GRABCAD
Cheers!!!!!! And Happy Rendering! 8)
(This could also be a great tool for beginners to see how I've set up the scene, although I'm def not a pro)
nice one ;D
Really nice, and great idea with the challenge. I'm on it.
Thanks for the .ksp.
This is my first car render and I had a lot of fun with it tonight. I start understand why so many are doing car renders.
Here is what I came up with:
Is it okay I post it here, or should I start my own thread for this challenge?
That's really good. I love the touch with the taillights and the headlights. Background works really well. Love the attitude this image gives off.
Really nice entry, Esben!
Just trying out some stuff myself. I'll probably push this image a bit further...
I think it's interesting how the headlight reflection changes according to the level of 'submersion'. I think it's still a silly image though. :)

Ripples are achieved through fractal noise (procedural) bump on ground material. IOR 1,85, roughness=0, white specular.

@Dries How did you import 7 cars? The geometry file must be horrendously huge, or was it 1 car and 6 proxies?
TIA!

Ah, oops. I used patterned instances in KS5 beta. :)

I really like that image Dries, Maybe add a dramatic waterfall in the background?
Very nice challange :)
I've just KS4.......We have to use KS4 or KS5?

Either one is fine. Most of us dont have access to KS5 yet.
ok, thank you for the info :)
Can we use any backplate?
Sorry for my english :)
Here's my final (for now) image.
KS5 screenshot. No backplate. No post edits.

Mi POV of the Aventador...
edit: I forgot to attach the final render without post (just cut the black lines on sides) :D
Here goes

All rendered in keyshot except for the lambo logo in the background. :P
Here my first shot for this challange (i'm planning to do some other shot....) :)

Playing around with one last studio shot. Let me know what you guys think.
asano, an advice
if you don't want to have this grey line under your wheels when you use PSC, don't use the white colour when you render your car, use a colour like the grey you would find on the road, so that when you cut out the car from your png picture, it will be fine
enjoy
Salut! J'aime vraiment la carbon fibre et la profondeur de champ.
Les liens vous avez posté ne fonctionnent pas bien!
salut mjb ,je viens de modife le post et mis des liens directs ;)
Hi, this is my contribute.
Thank you very much for this model.
Looks great, the only problem i have with it is the red rear lights, they look too solid
Martin
here is my attempt!
They all look amazing!!! I love this forum! ;) :) :-*
Nice work all of you!
But, first I will credit the creator of this amazing detailed model with his correct name "Fateh Merrad" and not "Fetah".
Also, I would like to ask his permission to use his model and render it so I can upload it on the KeyShot forum.

One more...
My first try, did this very quickly on the default settings since my laptop is quite slow these days. I used a light source as I wanted to capture the right light on the shoulder/fender of the car so the highlight mimics the original Countach LP400. Bit of lightroom editing ontop and that's it, enjoy!
Outsider, whomever you may be, you're rockin' it hard. Nice work.

il a deja donne sa permission car son modele est en libre telechargement sur grabcad
he has already given his permission for his model is in free download on GrabCAD
Here's another, bit of Photoshop just for the tailights and Lightroom for color correction. Thanks to Fateh Merrad for the excellent model!
This thread is certainly producing some quality renders, that's also a sure sign of a quality model too. I really should download it and have a closer look.
My thanks to everyone involved - it's been great to see all the different ideas/moods and skills displayed here and I sooo want to see more

Another one, outdoors this time.

P.S. Many thanks to Fateh Merrad for the great model.
Well I WAS gonna post more shots, but everyone is pushing this image sooo far I'm afraid of how mine will compare ;)
GREAT WORK EVERYONE!
I'm not satisfied at all but i'll post this last studio shot anyway hoping it will deserve some good crit.

No Martin, I only used motion blur without instances. I might try the instances in another render.
Abed
So many great renders of this vehicle. I had to do one.
Enjoy
Tim
Nice one Tim, nice to see the detailing coming through, and even better to see it without the lights on. :)
Martin
LOVE the color Tim.
Just to don't let this thread die ;D
Nice :)
Martin
Got to have a yellow one...
Not quite on plane as I want. any suggestions?
Nice work anjocoy, loving the depth of that yellow .... makes me wanna lick it :)
Good effort Jack. Use the Ground Grid in the Camera settings to help with getting the perspective with your backplate.
Martin
Definitely gotta have a yellow one. A nice one at that.
in honor of the recent storms in the midwest....
Good shot Adam - great mood :)
Martin
Thanks Martin!
A couple more
Some Arty Ones....
Nice work Adam!
Anjocoy, artsy! Very cool! I think some could be worked just a little more to really get an exotic feel--matching/blurring up environments and background, adjusting contrast/brightness, working out some of the hot areas.
Thanks for the feedback Josh, to be honest these were pretty much rushed off today just to get the concept across, not happy with some aspects of the images myself, but It gets the idea out there.

I definetely prefer the one with the storms because these are too "color corrected" for my taste.
About the one with the storm i can see a some weird reflections on the windshield, like trees, probably due to the HDRI that doesn't exactly match the backplate.
@John B
Nice idea! but imho the car is too dark in some parts and the black matte paint doesn't help. :o

I'm really thinking I could push the image a lot further... was thinking about throwing some photograpy equipment into the scene for effect...
Honestly, I'm not too big a fan of matte paint jobs but I figured it was worth a shot to see how it came out
A couple of rebound brollies and three, maybe four tripods with flash units atop of them would look cool.

Yeah I saw that on the window once I finished the image. Its because of the HDRI I was using which makes it really stand out. The color corrected ones, are basically cross process in Lightroom. I'm still learning Photoshop CC and Lightroom.
@John B - I found a good looking matte paint if you use the metallic paint shader, then turn the clear coat refractiveness to 1, gives it a nice little sheen while still giving off the matte look.
Draped with a 'Romero Brito' artwork.....
This thing of the street style paint is really COOL. ;D
K. Been a while since I posted anything, but this was too good for me NOT to try out. Fateh's models never disappoint. So, these first couple are inspired by Deadmau5's Nyan Cat covered 458 Italia.
Added in some equipment, however I blurred the image due to some issues with the shadows (gonna have to take another look at the scene).
I still don't know if I should show a camera in the scene or just the lighting equipment... any ideas?
The camera in the scene is a little cliched now but they do still look good so the choice is yours on that one. You could add more weight to that kind of scene by adding a little desk/coffee table with more photography paraphernalia such as spare batteries, film cannisters, light meter memory cards etc etc. But if you do decide to go that path, make sure the camera you add is a good medium format studio camera :)
Martin Spencer-Ford
Thanks Martin, I'll definitely play around with that idea ;D I think it actually might not be too bad to leave it this way
QuoteI think it actually might not be too bad to leave it this way
Good choice John - The storyline has already been laid down in this scene. It's already a juicy studio shot, adding the camera will add very little to the story that the mindseye has not already perceived :)
QuoteThanks Martin, I'll definitely play around with that idea
Again a good choice, there is nothing wrong with adding depth to a scene, the more depth, the more reality, but then the more complex it becomes trying to keep things looking realistic.
To 'me' a good artist is always trying to push their limits and skills in order to improve and to extend those same personal boundaries. So get on in there, 'fill ya boots' and enjoy the ride, it is educational after all ;)
Martin
Here's 2 more I did last week that I forgot to post. I missed fixing some orange paint that's coming inside the engine bay, oh well. Enjoy!
I stand in awe of all the excellent renders in this thread, and I can't help to feel slightly inferior given my effort. Anyways, given the incredible details in this model, I wanted to do a closeup-shot of the rear wheel:
1 more 8)
wow, after posting this image loses a ton of color and detail :/
Keep'em coming! These look great! Love the orange versions.
how did you made the tire detail? did you use a bump or geometry? :)
Thanks :)

I'm not the one who should have the honor of answering this, since I did not make that detail. But I can inform you that it is a bump map :)

Sad part is that when I post it the backplate loses soooooo much color and I'm not sure why :-[
If you look at my other topic "f12 nightshot" the first image shows the original backplate color

Love the full colour white aventador Adam... but (and it may just be me at 1:30am) something seems weird about the rim and the brake disc/caliper on the front wheel...
Hello, this is my first work in KeyShot. Long hours of work, but i liked the result.
Bit late to the party
What that needs is more black around it :P
oooh, i like that. Could do with a tiny bit more detail (a glimmer off the bonnet?)

Hey thanks man, yeah I agree - I should've stretched the light over the entire length of the bonnet too, why I didn't, I have no idea - I've done lots of these type of renders ??? :)
Here's another I did the other week - not as interesting as the one above (I havent tried the KS5 colour gradients yet, have to give that a try)
....
Nice. Just to nit-pic, I think you should make the front end (furthest from the camera) completely black to get that 'chiaroscuro' effect.
anyone know how Fateh did the original headlights? with the reflections. I believe they are not lit up.

is this done with a uv map? how was this done if not?
No UV map, just a top down, 'Z' direction projection mapping, it distorts down the vertical faces a bit, but the image is big, abstract and blocky so you don't notice it much.
My take on the urban art Aventador....
That is pretty cool man..! I think I might do that to mine for the next gumball.
