I want to create a light source within an object so it appears illuminated. So far I have only rendered objects that use the light from the hdri environments, but now need to render something that emits light itself. Anyone know what to do?
You will need to use an emissive material. Make sure to set your raybounces high enough, and also check detailed indirect illumination in the Realtime tab.
Thanks for that. I can get the material to appear like it is emitting light, but now I'm looking for more of a torch light effect, projecting upwards. Is this sort of thing possible?

You will not get this effect since we don't have any atmospheric effects. But you may want to experiment with the glow effect in the realtime tab.
If its possible to get a material to show light like this (attached image) that would be ideal... Or is this a job for Photoshop?
