Title: Rendered at 300dpi - GIMP says 72dpi...
Post by: jhiker on May 22, 2015, 06:27:44 AM
I've just rendered a 1280x960 at 300dpi PNG image and thought it came out at a rather small file size (208kb).

When I interrogate the image in GIMP it shows 72x72 dpi.
I don't understand.

Jeff,

72 x 72 ppi, not dpi.

PPI = Pixels Per Inch
DPI = Dots Per Inch

Please take a look:PPI vs DPI

You render an image that is 1,280 by 960 pixels.

Works the same way in Photoshop.  No matter.  Just select Resize Image, un-check Resample, and enter 300.  Bingo.
