Testing out the Toon Shading material type new to 4.1
I really like this, I have used Sketch & Toon in Cinema 4D, but it had its drawbacks insofar as it was post-effect, so it was excluded from other rendering effects like DOF, GI etc.
This implementation of Toon Shading has no such limitations, there is instant feedback visually which is excellent. I think I will be using this quite a bit in the future...
More images to come
interesting, could be useful. Any controllable parameters (such as line thickness / contrast etc)?
Playing around with settings some more... love this shader
Nice one, John! :)
This new material is indeed quite powerful and flexible.

This looks fantastic - definitely worth a good play! How long before it will it be implemented?
Great work Dries!!!
PS...
Love the robot from the first shots - its got real character
QuoteGreat work Dries!!!
Don't you mean 'great work Metal Master'... Dries had nothing to do with this ;)

Nice ones, John! Really like the blended robots the best.
Exciting! Going to be invaluable for product instructions, manuals and the like. Amazing how cross-disciplinary KeyShot is becoming.

Another blend of those robots with the NPR shader I like the best so far...

Beautiful. Love it John. Robots just work so well together with NPR. This and caustics are my fav new features this release.
@edwardo - lots of control options _ contour angle, width, quality. options to show outline contour, interior edge contour and environment shadows. Along with settings for color and contour color.
@Simon - KeyShot 4.1 is releasing within the next few weeks :)
Just lovable!ks it's keeping all features...it's almost complete
Another blend between normal and NPR...

This is awesome! I will be def be using this in the future.
My apologies John for the miss credit - super tremendous work indeed!!!
Incredible look and feel to the "toon" images. Keep it up....
Simon
Super!
I must say this is fantastic ;D, I was always kind of wondering when/if this kind of thing would make its way into Keyshot
Really, Keyshot 4.1 is sounding more and more exciting
Amazing. You are pushing this beyond where we thought it would go. Very nice work John.
Oh wow! This a really cool feature. Great work!
Man I can't wait for this!
For me this is one of the best ways of showing the product development cycle in a single image.
Nice! It looks less effective on the highly complex stuff, but the robots with the nice simple bold shapes it works an absolute charm!
Cheers!
Ah maaaaan! thats AWESOME! Looking forward to giving THAT a go :D
When is 4.1 out so we can have a play?
