Hello , i make shell with rhino than convert it to base mesh with tsplines to export it to 3dsmax
and i create the base mesh of snail with blender , i use mudbox to add details and painting; finally Keyshot for rendering and sketchbook
Superb!!! the most beautifull render i saw here!!!!!!!
Thank you tsunami :)
update
Great texturing! The specularity adds a lot of realism!
Thanks TheCrazySwede :)
i will modify the displacement texture of snail , and learn how animate it
new model
This looks a lot better !
The "foot" of the snail looks much more real with that wider "skirt".
Suggestion from what I see comparing to real photos: tilt the house a bit forward .. the edge of the house can "bite" a bit into it's back. This should "connect" them more together.
The glossy-slimy-wet look does seem real, but comparing to real photo's, it's mostly the underneath that has the slime .. no ?
Hello Philippe and thank you for you nice reply :)
about the house and the back i see photos sometimes like what you say and in other photos no connection between them
and the wet i think it is real in rainy day but i will try to reduce glossiness
hmmz .. it probably depends on how the picture is taken, no ? Use of flash and/or angle etc.
Either way, though I don't like the beast, the render is great already :)
Many thanks Phillippe :)
yes the angle of camera make difference , the same shell with the same material have difference reflection in the last two images
Hey Seghier,
here's two my own imgs, maybe it will help you to get better results :)
All the best,
Voya
Thank you Voya , very beautiful photos
i will use them in the nest snail :)
Im truly glad you like them, its just too bad i didnt take more photos of that snail on the road surface..... if only he went other way i could get the other side of his shell but it is what it is :) Use them however you like !
Many thanks Voya :)
i use one photo to color shell in mudbox ; two photos help me to add more details
Awesome work!
Thank you Thomas :)

New model and new render

Seghier,
Im glad you've found my imgs usefull, at least some good thing because they are just sitting there on my hard drive or collecting dust in a folder:))))
All the best,
Voya
thanks Voya :)
you can make online album with your photos to sell them
Awesome !!!!!!!
thank you Feher
Wow- kudos for taking on a challenging subject!
Thanks Imz :)
I also like seeing the process shots in addition to the final renders; definitely helps visualize your process.
Thanks Imz :) , you mean with process shots , creating of model than rendering or just rendering and choice of light and camera view ?
here some images i try them but i don't like result
i posted some shots how i create shell with rhino , blender for the body of snail than 3dsmax and mudbox
after that i use 3d coat for retopology and to create right uv
I like "coque.748.jpg"
It sure adds cuteness to the snail if it is "looking up" or "holding his head up high" or ... you know what I mean ;p
Do a render with its head up high and its head tilted like a puppy and you'll get most of us going "aahhhh... so cute" ;p
good idea and you will see the puppy smile ;)
new render
Quite excellent.
Thanks Thomas :)
You did an excellent job on those.
Thank you dillster
