Title: KS9 - a couple of questions re: GPU rendering
Post by: jhiker on November 06, 2019, 03:59:53 AM
I've just installed KS9 and I'm opening some legacy scenes to check they still work. It's all very new right now but I have a couple of questions regarding the use of the GPU setting ( I have GeForce RTX2080).
I opened a scene with 'flakes' - with GPU rendering OFF the real-time window display looks as it did in KS8.
With GPU rendering ON the display is not showing correctly. Should I expect it to be the same?
Also, I opened the gearbox scene with a cutaway - with GPU ON it seems the cutaway is not supported.

I'm trying to learn when to turn GPU rendering on - I thought I'd be able to leave it on for all scenes.
Pics and KSP attached.
Thanks

As I seem to be the only one reporting this I've asked support to take a look at it :-)

Thanks for reporting!

I could reproduce your issue with using uv mapping on flakes in KS9.0. All other texture mapping options should work as expected. The fix should be available in KS9.1.

Cutaway is currently not supported. There are a known limitations in the GPU page in the KS9 manual.
