Here's my hacked out  2 hour sub,

10 min on Google
60min in keyshot 5, setup/rendering
50 min in photoshop

I added a ground plane placed it above my model and turned it into glass with an exaggerated bump for the water. Made a sun/sky dome and added an IES light.

Thanks for looking,
George

Ha, i like the torpedo coming out the back. Interesting shot, I haven't seen any underwater shots yet (Dries did some interesting things with caustics in a box filled with liquid a while ago).

I think we should let this one run another week as well. What do you say?

George needs some competition :)

Well, in honor of today, December 7th, I decided to post my quick take on that fateful day in world history...

8 minutes to download, drop into SolidWorks, max out the image quality (tessellation) and pop into KeyShot with the importer.
20 minutes on the web searching for underwater stuff.
4 minutes on CG Textures downloading mud and stuff.
32 minutes putting it all together in KeyShot.  I added a ground plane (tilted) with "mud" texture and a "wavy" normal map.  Also added in a ground plane, but moved up above the model, and with "wavy glass" material.  Simple custom HDR.  10 second render.
30 minutes in Photoshop.

Total, 102 minutes +-.

For my Uncle Bill, and all who were at Pearl that day, we will never forget!

I call this one "Too late to dive" ...

KS: 76min
SU: +/- 10min (for the plane)
KS render time: 5min
PS: 12 min (for the moon + mist/fog , whichever you call it)

Finally!
The first speed render contest model I can open without KeyShot crashing.

0:00 - Opening and coloring
0:26 - Lighting and background
0:41 - Start rendering
1:44 - Realizing I forgot the wires
1:45 - Putting in wires
1:51 - Start rendering again
2:00 - Stop rendering

Well... it's yellow.

Loving this. Assuming you did the water and reflection of moon in KS? What light did you use?

I've got an excellent water bumpmap for this sort of things .. I probably grabbed it from somewhere here on the forum in the past.  It still works wonders (also large scale on window glass with very very shallow height, just to deform the reflection just a bit).

The rest is quite simple realy .. check the attachment.  I used "Grey Studio Black Floor" environement, colorized it to look like a night scene, then add 1 pin light to represent the moon and positioned it just like I like it.
All I had to do is find a picture of the moon with similar color tone, cut and paste it on top .. then add some fog.
