Title: Pop Art - Whiskey Coke
Post by: br3ttman on May 03, 2015, 08:16:19 AM
Still life composition for some of the props I've created while learning KeyShot.  Comments welcome.

The models and texturing looks well done, though I think for this setup the bottle cap should be bend ;)
Add a bottle opener as well.

For the lighting it could much more interesting.
Try create a light that cast some more defined shadows and caustics from the empty bottle and the cola as well.
I think that would look nice.

Yeah, the cap should be bent.  ;)  I got lazy, WIP.

Actually what inspired me to do this rendering was to explore caustics, but I got odd spotted lights in return.  I'd take any insight on what I might be doing wrong.

It might be the diffuse lighting.
Try light the setup with a IES profile. I have had good results using that to create visible caustics.

There is a nice free collection of IES profiles here:

Take a look at this thread for a nice overview of the IES profiles above:

IES profiles are definitely new to me. Thanks for the recommendation and the challenge.  I look forward to exploring them further and applying them to my renderings.
