This project started as a test of the HDRI-editor updates in the KS 6.1 Beta and quickly turned into a experiment of layering and animating different light passes with After Effects. Model: https://www.behance.net/gallery/14912487/Triumph-Bonneville-Cafe-Racer
Here's the result:

I created it by rendering out these four different light settings and layered them in after effects using the 'screen' blend mode. I added a 'hue' effect to all layers to add in some colors and animated the opacity of each layer.

There is a new feature in the HDRI-editor that makes you cut a pin in half. It enables the possibility to create some nice gradient lights with a sharp edge. Pretty cool:

For the development team: When I duplicate a half pin the 'half'-checkbox is unchecked in the new duplicate. I think it would make sense if the duplicate stayed half.

Dude. Great work, as always. I can't wait to get back home and behind my computer next week!
Ha, nice work !
Can you light this that way in one shot ?
I must say your work has improved by leaps and bounds this past year.
Keep up the great work ! It's paying off big time.

The .Gif is kind of like you turned on the lights in the garage and the flourescent lights flicker on. Good stuff!
Simple as it is!
Esben rules it as usual...

Thanks Tim. Much appreciated. I tried doing it in one shot. It looks a bit different and the colors are a bit off, but it works. I can't animate it though. Maybe a similar setup could be done with IES lights that's animated with the number slider in the material graph. Not sure :) I will definitely keep pushing.
