Title: How to show Sun or Light shadows?
Post by: hugo on January 20, 2016, 09:36:20 AM
I'm looking for a short tutorial or description of how to do a reflection thru a strained glass construction I'm building.
How do I setup the lighting to render the shadow casting on the surface, similar to the attached pic?

TIA!

Use global and ground illumination, but i don't think you will get as sharp a light as cast in your image which is more reflection based. It might even work well done with interior mode

Hi Hugo.

I did a quick scene to test it out and ended up the below.
I've attached a .kps (KS6) that you can have a look at if you are interested.

I found that I needed to create sphere with a IES profile as material in order to get the colored transmission. I couldn't get anything from using the HDRI only... but I can't say that it is impossible.

I hope it helps :)

thanks for your  efforts..... but it looks like the light transmission thru the material was taken on a very dull cloudy day :(
