Title: Transparency Problem
Post by: bentiger on March 22, 2016, 01:58:43 PM
Hi,

I have a problem using transparency for a part, that is shown in the picture attached to this post. When using transparency, i get vertical lines, which i don't want to have. Any ideas how to solve this by changing the settings or something?

Thanks,
benny

Hmm.
Try to decrease the scale of the transparent part to 0.99 and the scale of the inner shaft to 0.98, so there were no polygon intersections. That should reduce the these weird lines. 'Cause cylindrical surfaces should have a tiny gap.
For transparent parts I prefer simple materials like toon or diffuse. Or you can play with the parameters of advanced plastic.

Maybe you can share your results.

Thanks a lot for your help, scaling down the parts worked out and all the weird lines are gone!

Toon or diffuse did not work out, because i need this in animation mode and the transparency should go after some time. I guess there is no possibility yet, to animate from one material to another?
