Title: Improve the Rounded Edges
Post by: HaroldL on March 30, 2016, 09:20:40 PM
I came upon an issue when applying Rounded Edges that don't look good. I am working on a model of a Model 1835 Mountain Howitzer that, because of limitations in CAD, has a tessellation problem. When I apply rounded edges they appear to be applied only on alternating segments of the edges. It would be nice too, if you could select the edge(s) that you want to apply a rounded edge to (CAD-like) rather than having them applied to the whole model.
I had fillets on the edges in CAD but the tessellation was far worse in Keyshot so I removed them in lieu of rounded edges in Keyshot. So far it's not working out.

Hi HaroldL

I'd agree this feature could benefit from a little focus. I've found it struggles with imposing cosmetic curvature on top of existing, geometric curvature.

I'm shure that nearly every modeling tool should be able to create the round geometry. For this I prefer geometry instead of edges with 'visual rounds'. With a modeling tool you're able to create different rounds.

The round feature in KS is good if you assemble two equal cubes and want to lighten up the corner.

Hope that this would help a bit
