Title: KeyShot 6.2 error after update
Post by: grundey on June 23, 2016, 11:57:02 AM
After upgrading from 6.1 to 6.2, I now get the error in the pic attached.  Note that the slashes are forward slashes in the path shown, not backslashes.

Did you check the permissions for the downloads folder? Also, are you able to download from the KeyShot Cloud?

Permissions have not changed. I can write files to the folder in question. This was not an issue with 6.1. Keyshot Cloud downloads work.

This is a Win 10 OS, Keyshot for Solid Edge, version 6.2.

We will look into what is causing this error message, but it doesn't like it causes any problems.

I did some testing and added my user name with "modify" rights to the "C:\Users\Public\Documents\KeyShot 6" folder and that removed the warning when starting however this should not be needed to be done as all logged on users already have rights to the folders under Public, but through a Windows Group...

I'm having the same issue. As I'm on a large corporate network, I don't have the authority to customize permissions on that folder.

Permissions on that folder are identical to all the other Keyshot-created folders. This is definitely a Keyshot error, not a permissions error.

We were able to get around it by creating a new folder in my user's documents folder (instead of the Public documents folder that Keyshot uses by default), then setting the master folder to the new folder with Edit > Preferences > Folders > Specify location for all folders.

Then Keyshot gave an error and required re-setting 4 or 5 of the folders, at this point I pointed them back to their original location at Public Documents > Keyshot 6.

Then I went back into Preferences > Folders, "Customize each folder" was set, so I set all of them to point to their original location in Public Documents > Keyshot 6.

The next time I restarted Keyshot, it was set back to "Specify location for all folders" and the location was back to its original folder. (See attachment)

Not sure why that worked, but I haven't gotten any errors in the last couple of days so fingers crossed.

Actually, after writing that, an hour later I got the original error again.

So I went in and manually deleted the Downloads folder from inside the Keyshot 6 folder, then manually created that folder again in the same place.

Keyshot automatically populated the new Downloads folder with sub-folders, and hasn't given me an error since, over a couple of days of work.
