Title: Help with resolution needed
Post by: Black-Tooth on July 19, 2016, 10:22:26 PM
Hello everyone,

I've recently been rending out turn tables of my models with the plan of uploading them to Youtube. I used the preset resolution of 1600 x 883.

The problem is that  I have black bars at either side of the screen. Is there a change the resolution so it renders these side parts as well? And if so, do you know what that resolution could be? I use a wide screen 24 inch monitor...

I seem to be having a lot of trouble adding in a picture. I'll keep trying and see if I can get one up.

Are you using a backplate image? It appears so. Under Edit>Preferences, there is an option for "Adjust aspect ratio to backplate". If this is unchecked, and the resolution of the backplate image is different than your desired output resolution, then the black bars will be present in the areas that make up the difference in the resolutions. Hope this helps.

Also (along with what Eric mentioned), it looks like you're pretty close to the 16:9 ratio and in-between the 1080p and 720p resolution size. Here are the idea resolution sizes:

240p: 426x240 (16:9)
360p: 640x360 (16:9)
480p: 854x480 (16:9)
720p: 1280x720 (16:9)
1080p: 1920x1080 (16:9)
1440p (2k): 2560x1440 (16:9)
2160p (4k): 3840 x 2160 (16:9)

For example, if you're wanting at most a 1080p option, then use 1920x1080 as your output resolution size in KeyShot.

Hope this helps.
