Title: Flickering Shadow Issue Please Help!!
Post by: deepkick87 on September 05, 2016, 11:47:37 PM
Hey There!
Can someone please tell me what is going on with my render, you can notice the flickering on the "E" on MOVIE and "ER" on MAKER and other places. The only way I dont see it is when I Initially Import the Animation into Keyshot and do a default grey texture render. As soon as I add my materials It gets all fu**ed. Pardon the french. Someone help Please!
Thanks (Sorry bout the short video but its enough to see the blinking)

(I am using Keyshot 5, and imported the model from Maya/C4D)

It's very hard to tell from this video only.

Is it visible when you do a preview in KeyShot? If so, it's something in your scene, for example, the letters in motion casting shadows onto the other parts.

Or, if not, then it's perhaps a result of the export, compression or any editing or converting of codecs you might have done after the render.

Hey thanks for the reply,
I dont believe its a shadow casting thing with the model because when i did an initial simple greyscale render it was fine, as soon as i added materials, the flickering happened. And i noticed it even as frames compositing in After effects.
Could it be the render settings?

I would try to use a higher frame rate and render with max samples mode (starting around 100 and go up if the flickering is still visible)

And maybe your video file is small enough to upload directly here, so we can watch it via VLC player and slow down the speed.
For me watching this youtube video is very difficult, because it's too short.

hope that help a bit

It seems to me like this could be a reflection of something off camera. The horizontal E arms are the only parts that are really in a position to reflect something from below and to the back. Is there anything back there that we can't see?

Alternatively, it looks like other parts of your E are cut up... could there be some overlap interference happening with that part?
