Title: Keyshot file size related with scene size?
Post by: siumaiii on September 12, 2016, 11:01:10 PM
Hey guys, does the keyshot file size relate to how big the objects are on scene?
So basically I have a scene from ZBrush (a jungle kinda scene with lots of roots and tree subtools - around 50 subtools) which is done in 1:10 scale. The scene is around 13Million polygons (not too big in ZBrush standards I think). But I'm having problems bridging it over to Keyshot.. It takes a long time and the Keyshot file with this scene ends up being over 7gigs big which doesn't seem normal to me. It's my first time dealing with a full environment in ZBrush and Keyshot, so I'm not sure if I should be scaling things down first or what.
Thanks in advance!

I wonder if anyone has answered you, of if you found out any since you posted this question. It is an important one, since it's so easy to make large files in ZBrush.

When you bring a scene over to KeyShot, all the tools are applied and probably have way more polygons which is most likely why the file size is huge. You can check your poly count in KeyShot by hitting "H". You may be able to getaway with less subdivisions in ZB before sending it over making the file size much smaller and faster to import.
