Title: I would like advice on how to realistically render resin miniatures?
Post by: Anvils Hamer on October 04, 2016, 09:55:50 AM
Hello all,

I do digital sculpting in Zbrush for miniature wargaming, and the 3d Prints are cast in resin.

I would like to be able to render digital files in Keyshot so that they look as close as possible to the real life photos of resin parts which we take in our light tent, but despite lots of testing Ive yet to find a combination of material and lighting etc which gets that close.

I have attached a photo showing some examples of keyshot and Zbrush renderings I have done, and also some real life photos of the final resin, the look  I am trying to achieve.

If anyone has any ideas or advice I would greatly appreciate it.

If any expert Zbrush/Keyshot users think they could easily set up a scene/material to use etc if I supplied a sample ZTool, I would happily consider paying for your time.

Many thanks all!

Do you have any model available to share for testing ? Have you tried translucent materials or soft rough plastics ?

There is a green resin in the KeyShot Cloud which you may want to try out as well.
