Title: Cloud login and download
Post by: Eugen Fetsch on October 28, 2016, 03:25:03 AM
Hello,

when I click the cloud button in Keyshot it opens a browser window instead of the integrated cloud viewer. General preferences - cloud library shows that I'm "Not logged in".

Mac OSX 10.12.1
Keyshot 6.2.105  floating

Does somebody know how to solve this issue?

Yes - this is correct behavior. All you need to do is log in.

Thank you for the reply. But how I can download something from the cloud? When I click the "Download" button, nothing happens, but I can see the download count rise by one.
Same behaviour in Safari / Firefox / Chrome.

Just tried it. After logging in I selected a material I wanted to download. I was then prompted to "authenticate" the download by logging in again (will need to check why that is), but after that the material downloaded directly into KeyShot. After that I was able to download other materials without any further prompts.

Correct, Thomas.  I was going to report this some time back and forgot.  It's sort of a double-entry strange thing.

There are two things at play here: (1) the website has authentication, and (2) inside the KeyShot application you have to, at least once, authenticate with our web API that you are eligible to access the API and download the resource. Consecutive downloads will not require authentication inside KeyShot because it saves the auth token until it expires. It's the same thing for the website that saves a cookie. The two are separate in semantics but not in context, so to speak.

Thank you for the hint, but how I can use the internal web API to authenticate? The status is sill - "Not logged in".

Thank you.

KeyShot will ask you to authenticate and handle it from there. In order to be able to download you need to have our KeyShto Cloud handler installed, which comes with KeyShot. When you click download it actually executes a custom URI scheme called "keyshotcloud://..." that triggers our handler and in turn sends it into the running KeyShot instance, or starts a new one.

If you click download on the website and it doesn't popup KeyShot then your installation seems faulty. It's important that you have no altered our cloud handler application.

You could try to reinstall to see if it installs the handler. Otherwise I'll have one from support help you further.

Thanks

Thank you.

I've reinstalled KeyShot and the Handler.app with the same result.  :(

Tested here with fresh KeyShot6 installation on macOS Sierra 10.12.1 and it works fine. Have you installed to somewhere other than Applications ?

KeyShot and CloudHandler are in the Applications folder.

I was having the "dead download link" issue as well. I emailed support@luxion.com, and I was told they are working on a fix. Luckily, there is a simple workaround in the meantime.

With KeyShot and your browser in the same desktop space as each other (if you're on a Mac), just drag the materials or any other resources you wish to download from your browser window onto the KeyShot window. Doing this will finally trigger KeyShot to ask you to enter your login information. Once you do, those resources will show up in the Downloads folder within the Materials/Environments/Backplates/Textures tabs.

It worked for me. Hopefully, it will work for everyone else.
