So I was working on a project that I unfortunately didn't save as I was going along.
Accidentally clicked File->New, now my original model has been totally wiped!
Is there any way of getting this back??

Didn't you get the 'do you want to save your changes?' prompt, before it wiped out the scene?
I don't think there is anyway to get it back.
It doesn't help you much now, but you can go to preferences > general and set a save reminder, if you tend to forget to do so.
