Title: Rhino 5 live linking misses parts!!!
Post by: JordiDash on January 25, 2017, 02:49:27 AM
Hello everybody.

KeyShot 6, Windows 8.1, Rhino 5, Livelinking 1.0 plugin

I'm using Rhino 5 and the livelinking plugin to KS scene. In Rhino I have my model parts organized in layers to set up different combinations in KS and this works quiet good while the part manager in KS fits the layer manager in Rhino.

The issue comes when I move a sublayer from a layer to another in Rhino. When I update the KS scene, this sublayer/subgroup has dissappeared from the KS part manager.  I think it is a common problem among Rhino livelinking users, so...

1. Has anybody found out something to fix this?
2. Am I doing something wrong or is it a software issue?

Thanks a lot!

Sounds like a problem with sublayers. We have a new plugin in the works that will fix it. E-mail beta@luxion.com and we will set you up with it.

Yep, I found a workaround that works for me 100% of the time when I modify a part in Rhino and update it using Live Linking. I would assume it will work for your situation.

I make any changes I want to make (model, layers, etc..), then I select the entire model in Rhino. Using the Gumball I move the entire Rhino scene up 5mm, then back down -5mm to move it back into place.
Then I run the Live Link "Update" command and jump back to Keyshot. everything including the new parts (layers) are now updated and are actually there, not missing.

Good luck!!
