Title: Using same bitmap for color and bump. Possible?
Post by: Esben Oxholm on January 26, 2017, 08:27:02 AM
Hi guys.
Whenever I try to use a bitmap as input for both color and bump, the color information dies.
To get the result I'm after I have to copy the bitmap.

Works fine when using a procedural texture.

Is it possible somehow to use the same bitmap for both?

Best,

Without opening the material graph open the texture tab, and simply drag the texture from the color texture onto bump texture by holding down the CTRL (ALT Mac)  key.

Let us know if that works.

Thanks, Thomas.
By using the method you describe, the color information is kept, but when opening the graph afterwards it shows that is has created a copy of the bitmap. Just like I had to when I did it 'manually'.

This is not a big deal, would just be nice to be able to use the same bitmap input without copying :)

I agree. I'll talk to Rex and dev about that.

I just heard that it was already done for KeyShot 7.
