I get CAD files with thousands of internal parts I don't need, and since discovering that I can marquee select in the viewer by holding down SHIFT has been a time saver! Then I can right click and HIDE the selected parts.
Now, I don't want to delete anything until I am sure that none of the parts hidden are supposed to be visible, so when I'm done ensuring that, is there a way int he scene tree to select all the hidden parts? Right now I am doing it manually. Is there a way to use the Search bar int he scene tree to find all hidden parts?
Thanks!
Matt
Just a dumb thought. Why don't you apply a let's say dummy material like a pink diffuse mat named "to delete" instead of hide'em. Now you'll find the material in the list, select all parts or use the search and delete. And if you see a pink part behind a slot or what ever, you know that you will need it.
Just a dumb idea. Cause if nothing goes right, go left ;o)
That's a very workable idea. An odd color would actually help that out, as with everything turned on from the outside of the model if i see any pink then I know I probably shouldn't delete that part. I get electrical assemblies that have 98% of the poly count in the chips on the boards that I never use, so ditching those make KS much faster in the viewport. But every once in a while I'll get an itchy trigger finger on the delete key, so this would help that.
I'll give it a go on my next model!
Cheers!
