Title: copy/paste material behavior in Keyshot7
Post by: human_bean on August 26, 2017, 03:55:59 PM
When I use the (Shift + LMB, Shift + RMB) shortcut to copy & paste a material, it only applies the material to a piece of surface on the new part rather than the whole part.  Up until Keyshot 6, the whole part would be affected if I pasted a material on to it.

Is there a setting that changes this behavior?

Hi.

What does your scene tree look like? Is the separate surfaces that you can apply materials to, listed as separate geometry?
I suspect you should solve this problem when you import your model.

Can you share some information on your import process?

What CAD system are you importing from?

There is currently an issue where faces aren't merged correctly when importing Rhino models. A fix is in the works.
If you check "Import NURBS Data" in the import dialog, then the  copy and paste behavior for materials should behave as in KeyShot 6 though.

All of the surfaces are listed as separate geometry.  I'm importing a Rhino CAD model so I guess that explains the problem.  Thanks both of you for the help.

in the meantime, until we have a permanent fix, you can always import NURBS. That will show the geometry as a single piece in the Scene Tree and will give you the expected material copy/paste behavior.
