Evening everyone,
So this was my submission for the materials competition. I've never really done any automotive rendering before so thought I'd take this opportunity to give it a shot. I've attached the image and clay pass as well as some screenshots of the material graphs used for shaders. I'm not entirely happy with the way the brake caliper turned out, it seems as though the orange peel is too big despite it actually being the same size as all the other noise maps used in the scene. Also, given more time, I would have loved to render out each pass and composite it all in post for a greater control over the look and feel, but I'll do this next time for sure. Feel free to leave your own critique below, I'd appreciate the feedback.
I hope you're all happy with your submissions for the competition!
Cheers,
Shaun
It's rare I want to set the image of a wheel as my wallpaper :)
Really nice results, Shaun. Thanks for sharing the matgraph too.
Haha, thanks Josh that means a lot!
Thought I'd attach the image without my logo for your wallpaper ;)
Love the mood of this render, looks mean +1
Yeah the lighting and materials in this image are so sexy. Loving the imperfections!
