Title: Scene units for Pool Balls with Scratches Blog Post
Post by: HaroldL on December 09, 2017, 06:22:34 PM
Can someone tell me what the scene units are for the pool ball scenes in latest blog post "How To Create Subtle Hairline Scratches in KeyShot"? I downloaded the bip file don't see any indication of the scene units. I tried the indicated settings on a model I created in inches and got some very different results. Usually when I import a CAD model into Keyshot the units show in the Scene Units menu, that's not so with this model

Hi Harold,

The bool ball scenes are indeed unitless. I made them in a pretty "quick and dirty" fashion, importing spheres (Edit > Add Geometry > Sphere) into a new scene, thus rendering them unitless. ::)
Adjusting the Scale of the Scratches texture should allow you to easily fit the texture to any object though.

Hey Dries

Can you explain how the direction field -> normal works.
Why does the scratches in the realtime view look different to the scratches when i hit preview color on the note? ???
