Title: Create Pattern inside a group?
Post by: mattjgerard on January 22, 2018, 12:06:45 PM
Seems that I can't create a pattern while inside a current group? The imported sphere from the edit->add geometry has to not only be in its own group that is added when it is created, that group has to be on the top root level of the scene tree. Its a little of a bumble to have to do this, just want to make sure I'm not missing anything?

I added a sphere, dragged it a couple groups deep into my scene tree, and the Create Pattern option is not there unless its inside its original group on the root of the scene tree.

Patterns can only be made at the model level, i.e. top/parent level. I think it's always been that way.

Enter Model Sets. Copy an item/subassembly into a Model Set and a new model is created. Thus, it becomes patternable.

Hope that helps.

That's an idea, not super intuitive, but if it works... Just need to change the way I think a little bit.
