Looking on the KS cloud for wood floor materials and cant see many. I know I can find many jpg textures out there but how to get them into a nice glossy floor with texture?
The problem to upload a good wood floor material is about the textures. If you aren't the owner of the textures, you can't share them in the cloud.
You'll find several good resources for textures (e.g. Poliigon, Dosch Design, mtextures, ...)
Or just look into Esben's link collection.
Thanks - I understand.. what would be nice is a small tutorial on how to create a good wood floor material..
Poliigon is totally worth checking out. Fantastic textures, they are a bit of work to figure out how to get them to look good, but totally worth the time. And they just revamped their website along with new pricing programs, so you don't have to get a year long subscription if you don't want to.
Some Poliigon Textures / Materials can be found in the KS7 Content (https://www.keyshot.com/resources/downloads/assets/ (https://www.keyshot.com/resources/downloads/assets/))
And in the attached example I used a good floor texture from DOSCH DESIGN (https://doschdesign.com/produkte/textures/Wood_Floor.html (https://doschdesign.com/produkte/textures/Wood_Floor.html))
This is a screenshot if my KeyShot World 2017 - Presentation.
Hope that helps
Cheers
Marco
Thanks Marco - I will give it a go!

You can also start with a free texture. It is not my intention that you should by something. (maybe in the free sample section you'll find some helpful stuff https://doschdesign.com/samples.php)
ok I have a question.. I have just installed the 700mb extra materials so now I have some Poliigon materials to play with. and also just watched this
https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=39&v=_yj9zQ_oacY
in this video it suggests to changed the bump/normal to a minus number like -0.5 - if this is still true why are all the Poliigon materials still set to a positive ? confusing...

The answer is simple - KeyShot does not support displacement maps like Blender. So we have to use a polygon modeler and modify the geometry with displacement maps and export it to KeyShot via .fbx or .obj.
In a future release of KeyShot we will (hopefully) get displacement maps - some day.

ok thanks Marco for all your help.
