Title: why is light not appearing on one part of the wall?
Post by: rfollett on May 23, 2018, 07:06:49 AM
I have created a thin surface to get a light wash effect onto a large backdrop on a stage.
for some reason the light is not appearing on the black of the jpg?  is this down to how I created the jpg?
RGB 8 bit..

Hi Richard.
Do your material have any specularity? If not, adding that should help.

In my use, pure 100% black texture maps are difficult to get any optical response from, so if I have say, a black label going on a product I make it a dark grey in  illustrator or PS first, then it will respond with reflections and spec in the materials. For some reason pure black just doesn't react the way I want it to.
