I think it would be cool to have the option to enable an invisible grid of snap points for the nodes in the material graph. That way you could organize nodes in a way that makes sense. And it would add the benefit of aligning the nodes vertically and horizontally (I find myself straightening up nodes instead of working on the material sometimes :P).
