Hello. A strange dark dot on the HDR screen. Appears in the falloff mode Quadratic.
I'm not sure, but I would check the part/mesh just turning along its axis to see if the dark area still exists. And perhaps a normal recalculation or re-import with higher tesselation or maybe NURBS mode should change the result.
Hope that helps
Cheers
Marco
Thx for answer. Tesselation 0.5, render like NURBS, axial rotation... nothing helped
If falloff is changed to linear or exponential, then a bright point appears in the given place, as it should be.
Could you share the environment file (hdr or hdz) to replicate this effect?
I guess it must be in the environment settings (size, height, pins).
Or could be in the mesh. What modelling tool was used?
Model SolidWorks
The problem depends on the fall off mode of both (side) pins. I changed the fall off to "from edge" and changed the fall off value to 0.5 as similar to your example.
Hope that helpes

Is it a bug of quadratic mode?
Hi Alex,
Yes it is a bug in the quadratic falloff mode. Thank you for reporting it.
It has been fixed in KeyShot 8.
Søren
Hmm. But I have one question: Why do you use the quadratic fall off?
Marco
Just for expirience.
