Title: KeyShot To Unity VIA FBX - Winding Order?
Post by: phatty70 on September 15, 2018, 07:18:53 AM
Hello,

We have recently upgraded to Keyshot 7 - I'm extremely happy to see that Keyshot now Supports FBX Export.

Problem:
When importing FBX file into Unity all surfaces are "inverted".  I'm no expert in unity - but from a few hours of searching it seems this may be a "winding" issue within keyshot.

Question:
1. Is this a winding order issue?  Does keyshot apply a clockwise winding order when exporting FBX?
2. Is there a way to reverse normals of all surfaces within keyshot?
3. Is anyone able to replicate this issue?
4. Is there a workaround?

Thanks a lot for your support !

I noticed the same problem. If you export FBX from KeyShot and import it to Unity then the normals of the all faces are pointing to unwanted direction.

In Unity you can download a free asset 'ProBuilder' and heal the mesh by using tools Probuilderize & Flip Normals. It works well for simple models but when I tried it for a complex model originally made in Creo then the result wasn't OK.

Have you found another workaround?
