Thanks to the webminar about emissive materials, I decided to work again on the Lancome still life.
I was surprised to see that the result is more "photographic" or more "real" with emissive material, than with an HDRI only :o
Here is the old render with only HDRI :
Francois - I didn't think the original could get any better, but the emissive material really brings out more detail, especially in the clear plastic cap. The lighting pulls the product forward from the background, giving the scene better depth.
Would be good to see a diagram showing how the scene is constructed. I'd like to experiment with adding lights.

Better than a flag or reflector in photography because you can make it invisible to the camera :)
