nice job, and i have a question for you.

there is a part in the middle which has cartoon material.  how did you change the material of that part from cartoon to metal at 30th sec.?

I'm not sure how he did it, but I probably would have rendered 2 versions of that segment - 1 with the toon material and 1 with the metal and then fade between them in Premiere.

Might also be able to do it right in KS with some different fade animations or something.

Two similar animations, one with metal and one with toon part. Crossfade in post production.

Similar effect here:

One way you could do it in KS is apply a metal material to the part, then apply the toon material as a label on the metal. Add a number fade node to the opacity of the toon material and have it fade from 1 to 0.
