Title: wood and leather, stool
Post by: cango on January 09, 2021, 02:29:33 PM
my own model/creation. (inspiration from nordic furniture) learning how to model etc. the wood texture from a ash board at work I photographed. the leather is a walnut burl with some leather bump on it.
Many thanks for looking.

cango,
Nice looking model and renders. What modeling program are you "learning how to model" with?
The only thing that I would suggest is a change to the wood grain direction on the aprons to be lengthwise. The side apron has grain running perpendicular to the length, which you likely would never see in a product.

Thanks HaroldL!

Agree with the grain... I work as a "carpenter/cabinet maker" and we never put it that way :-)... However, uvw thing is tricky sometimes..
at work I use ironcad, but for the more "organic stuf, I try to learn 3dsmax.

If you edit the material you can rotate the texture with the Move Tool. But sometimes that is tricky to get the effect you want.
