Inspired by some of the jewelry imagery I've seen on here lately. Thought I would take a stab at lighting something fun and metallic.
Caustics were a happy accident, and really came together quickly on the RTX 3090.
Impressive!
Nice caustics :D
:D thanks you guys
Pretty amazed by the simple coolness!
Great work David!!
Ohhhhh man. Those caustics. So good. This is really cool, David!
Very Inspirational! Thanks for posting! Would you care to share how you set up your environment?
Cheers!
Wow thanks everyone for the continued support!
As for lighting - this one is rather simple. Environment is a simple gradient, lighter on the bottom - dark on top. The ground plane blocks most of this and creates a nice hard line reflection in the middle. There's a large circular area light from directly above. There's a large rectangular area light from rear (warm/orange glow). And there's actually a spotlight in the similar position to the area light - this is kind of the trick, it doesn't show up in the reflection, but it does cause the light falloff on the ground plane, and also a ton of secondary 'bounce' light from the ground plane 'up into' the knot and reflects a ton in there, creating all of those cool caustic effects.
This is really cool. I'd love to see the lighting setup.
WOWZA!! Beautiful man, well done!
