Title: Animation - Pivot Points
Post by: peter_t on December 03, 2011, 04:55:17 PM

I am considering the purchase of KeyShot, - and use PTC Creo

I need to animate an assembly which is similar to a rotating crankshaft, a moving con-rod, and reciprocating piston running true within a cylinder.

In KeyShot, can pivot points be applied as required, and linked, to achieve this type of animation?

Thanks.

This is a question I have been asking as well.  This is a very common motion for many mechanical devices, and so far I have not been able to figure out how to mate, for example, the crankpin to the con rod, etc.  It would be great if Animation would recognize the mates as we set them up in Creo or SolidWorks.

Hopefully, Jeff or Brian will cover this in the next webinar on Animation, Part 2.

I know you can assign a pivot point based on a center of the object, or on another object like an axle. I don't know if you can do a parent child rotation though
