Title: Is this effect the displacement map repeating, or something else?
Post by: Blumer on June 06, 2022, 06:48:27 AM
Hi all,

I am trying to duplicate an effect on one of our products that was created by spraying a sparkle coating on top off a painted surface.
I've used a displacement map of a repeating texture I made on the shell, and even after trying various settings in the texture map and displacement nodes, I haven found a way to eliminate the repeating lines I see.
Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance for any advice!

can you post a pic of the actual product to see what you are trying to do? Normally with a texture that fine, you should be able to do that without actual displacement, unless you are getting super close up where you can see the hieght differences.

You're likely seeing those lines because the pattern you are using probably isn't seamless.

You could try something like this.

Thanks for your help Mattjgerard & TGS808!

I just went with a fractal noise bump on the shell and it worked pretty well.
I appreciate your help!
