Title: Decals in KS 3 verses KS 2
Post by: Xidor on January 31, 2012, 07:03:32 AM
Hi guys,

I've been doing some great renders in KS 2 and have great success applying a graphic, such as png artwork for the screen of an iPhone that looks very real rendered. I've also been applying decals on parts to show a logo. I've dome this two ways, either as a texture so it retains the gloss properties of the plastic is applied to or as a label so it appears as a different gloss level.

However, when I apply the same artwork to the same parts in KS 3, as textures or labels, they appear very dark. For example, a large portion ofnthe label is an area of blue. In KS 3, it's nearly black. When applied as a texture over a part, there was no way I could find to dial down the darkness or bring up it's brightness. I finally just took that the blue area out of the artwork and applied the blue color to the part in KS. In this case, the fix was easy.

But I can see times when a graphic of a logo will have a large patch of color and it never looks in KS 3. At least as far as I have found. It worked great in KS 2. Perhaps there is a setting I am unaware of or a button I needed to press.

I can't show an example as the work is confidential. Maybe later i can produce an example if anyone asks.

Thanks for any insights! Nelson

Can you send an example to support@luxion.com? This is always the quickest way to determine what's wrong.

Thanks,
Thomas

Thanks Thomas! I am in the midst of a deadline crunch, I'll send something as soon as I have some free time.
