Title: Large File Size
Post by: Caitcuta on March 02, 2012, 12:11:17 AM
Hi, I'm rendering a few images which are going to be used in a brochure and have just been told the first copies I sent weren't high enough quality. Apparently he's after something 300DPI and around 2mb in size, my current renders are about 150kb max and I have no idea about DPI...

What are the best settings for producing high quality images? I'm using Keyshot Standard. It's a small brochure so the photos won't be massive.

You can render up to 4.1 megapixels in size. At 300dpi, this is about the size of half a page. To get to the desired resolution multiply the height and width in inches respectively with 300. That gives you the dimension of your rendering.

Keyshot has several presets under the 'Render' tab.
I occasionally supply our graphic design people with pictures for our product brochures - they're usually happy with something like 1200x900 @300dpi, which happens to be one of  the presets. This will give you a print size of 4"x3" (at 300dpi).
