Title: Model setup in scene
Post by: tvanryn on June 15, 2010, 09:29:56 PM
Hey all,

I just got a suite of nice environments, now I'm wondering how to get my model to look "right" in the environment.  The lighting looks great, the model looks real, but I'm not getting that effect that's in the demo videos where the user rotates the model around and everything is positioned correctly so the environment always looks right.  Please help!

Not exactly sure what you mean, but have you tried using a backplate? That will give you the desired result you are looking for.

Hope this helps.

Hi Thomas, what I'm referring to can be seen in the KeyShot 2 demo video.  When the car model is rotated, the environment rotates with it, and the road stays in the correct orientation and position in relation to the car.  When I rotate my model it appears to be "sliding" across the environment.

I'm importing from a Rhino file, I don't know if that's part of it.

Go to the environment tab and check 'Flatten ground', that should give you the effect you're after.

Now that's more like it!  Thanks John!
