Title: BMW 507 (1959)
Post by: Saloff on November 09, 2012, 10:53:21 AM
Hi all,

I am new here. Wanted to show one of my first renders to begin with this one.
Still puzzled with having neat reflections in the car body...
Will really appreciate your comments.

Ohhhh - nice choice!!! The car that put BMW on the map.

What is your question about "neat car reflections"? Not sure I understand.

On reflections, it is about clean definite reflections in the car body. I believe it is hard to have such in KeyShot or I have not yet had right environments?

Thanks, Sergio.
It is a backplate.

The quality of the reflections are a result of the quality of the geometry (# of polygons), and the resolution of your environment.

Thomas is right clean and even geometry is important. Bumps and ripples in the mesh affect the quality of reflections. Your model looks excellent, did you make it all yourself?

I understand that geometry of the model is important. With a good model, it is the HDRi dome that plays the role, isn't it?
Yes, the model is not bad, I bought it from Humster3D.

Really nice render !

I suggest to check the shadows of the car. They are on the wrong way and too sharp.
Notice how blue are shadows from the rocks.

Do you mean to say that shadows should go bluish? I guessed the light here is quite complex to make shadows blue.
The image is sort of over sharpened here, yes. Cannot fight the crispness of the render so far.

You can change the shadow color in the environment tab. Also, you may want to increase the pixel blur in the render tab to take of the crispness of the rendering.
