Title: network rendering
Post by: jp_li on December 11, 2012, 12:29:31 PM
if we purchase additional rendering nodes, say 64 nodes, can all those nodes be applied to render 1 image?

example, we have a large image that takes our 8 core machine 1 hour to render.  Can we buy some network render nodes and then have all the nodes render the 1 image in less time?

That's exactly what it's for.

Just keep in mind that in this case 1 node = 1 CPU (not 1 machine)

The license tiers are by cores, not nodes.

So a 32 core license could use up to 32 cores.  If you have hyperthreading enabled (i5, i7, xeon) each thread will count as one core.  I.E. a 6-core i7 with hyperthreading will require 12 cores.
