Title: From the Deep
Post by: Adam_M on April 10, 2013, 12:00:19 PM
Continuing some work with IES light profiles. I noticed when working with translucent materials I got some "blockiness" under the eye on the shadow. Any tips on improving this? Also when making "skin" style texture how do you increase reflections or sheen?

I can attach the .bip file if anyone would like to make a better version

Go ahead and attach the .bip. Would love to see what everyone creates. Honestly, I was wondering when someone was going to use the new KeyShot lights in a deep-sea angler! :)

Josh, I've noticed when using IES lights, my models have shown white dots? I thought they would go away once the image was rendered but they do not. You can see a little bit of that on the picture of the fish above.

Happens the same to me...my God..I'm unable to get rid of these dots! I'm pretty sure I'm doing something wrong!

What's the 'Caustic (experimental)' BOX for? (under the light materials tab)? It seems that when you check it the whole render starts to be filled with these little dots.

Anyways, I need to check up the manual to be honest, I just started to tweak and touch here and there without even knowing what I'm actually doing haha.

Hi Adam,
This is my attemp at this ugly deep sea creature....lol Thanks for the model.
The goal was to use textures, dome, keyshot provides. Which I did.
Post done in Photoshop.
I hope you all enjoy this.
My door is always open if you need anything.

That looks great Tim!

How did you get the "glow" effect from the light? I tried this for awhile and came up with nothing.

OK, I was'nt satisfied with my responds. I know you want to know how to do it in Keyshot.
I did a screen shot of the settings you would need to get that glow.
I want to warn you. Setting the setting that high will make you computer run VERY SLOW. But, it can be done. For me it's just easier to do it in Photoshop.

Sorry I kept on playing with making the glow in Keyshot.
Here is another screen shot. All I know is that my computer was working overtime with the setting up this high....lol No way would I be able to ray trace render this.

Awesome shots guys!

Tim, it appears your getting the little white dots as well. Have you found any remedy for this?
